    Summary of Application Experience

    Submitted AMCAS: 6/23
    AMCAS Verified: 8/06

6/17: Only days away from the 1-year anniversary of this application process, I received a VERY unexpected call from UCI! It has totally been worth the wait and I still can't believe I made it into a CA school with a bad MCAT.

Wait listers: Don't give up hope because you never know what's coming next. Plus, keep your schools updated. It took me 2 LOIs, 1 new (and pretty good) letter of rec, and a few (i.e. 2-3) application updates via email to get in. Make sure they know how bad you really want it.

6/25: Georgetown accepts me!! This has been one crazy week. I have no idea what to do now.

7/12: Oh my. The plot thickens with an acceptance from Univ. of Florida!

7/15: I've decided UC Irvine is the school for me. While I absolutely loved Georgetown, it makes more sense to stick with the stronger research (since I want to do that) and cheaper cost of UCI. There's always time to move to the east coast during residency when I won't have to be responsible for paying tuition. UF is great as well, but it's not significantly cheaper to take me away from CA quite yet. Good luck to all the waitlisters out there with one not-so-stellar number. You might lose hope here and there, but you really do need to realize it isn't over until school starts (just like everyone says but you roll your eyes at them... don't worry, I did it too)... and don't go out without a fight!
