    Summary of Application Experience

    AMCAS submitted: 6/29
    AMCAS processed: 7/20

    Advice:
    1) Apply as early as you can! I still believe I applied a little late b/c I was too busy preparing for a study abroad program
    2) Save up A LOT of money. I was very fortunate to hear back from one of my top choices so I didn't have to spend so much money on food/lodging/transportation for interviews. I spent a total of $3446 on 27 primaries, 20 secondaries, LORs, and 2 interview flights. I am a low-income student and I had to pay for this entirely out of my own pocket...it was extremely difficult.
    3) UCLA students, finish your LORs done early! UCLA professors are so slow in getting in letters and the Career Center takes FOREVER processing them. Hence, you need to get your LORs done ASAP and your personal statement done early since most professors/writers require them. Also tell your writers to include your name and AMCAS ID (some schools require this) on your letter since the Career Center charges you $5 per letter to include this information.
    4) Do what you enjoy and not for the sake of 'being premed.' It's a long, expensive, and humbling experience, but you should love the work you do. If you truly have a passion for your work, interviewing becomes SOO much easier.

I will be attending UCSF in the fall. Message me if you are a prospective student!
