Summary of Application Experience
My MCAT jumped 10 points (with some repercussions in the writing... from an R to an O) and I'm excited! I decided to apply to some of the harder schools just to play 'what if.' I'm mostly worried about my GPA, but I think I'll be able to get in somewhere. I'm really hoping for UMASS or BU though... we'll see what happens in the coming months!
I only wish I hadn't applied to so many schools.... but who knew?
10/26 Apparantly UMASS sent me an interview invitation via e-mail on 10/19, but I never got it thanks to my messed up Outlook (grrr). Thank god they called me though! I'll be interviewing there on Wednesday.... I'm really hoping I don't mess anything up.
11/8 My first rejection that I actually cared about came from BU. They 'regretfully cannot offer me an interview'... they must be bitter that I turned them down for undergrad :p. Oh well, I'm still hoping for UMASS! They have better resources anyway...
1/15 Two more interview invites over the winter break! I'm really looking forward to these. Let's hope that I'll get into one of the schools that offered me an interview...
1/27 I got the rejection letters from Dartmouth and Cornell earlier this week. My only regret is seeing the Dartmouth campus and falling in love with it. Oh well... I was never meant for Ivies.
1/31 First acceptance! Wayne State!
2/27 Interviewed with SUNY Stony Brook. I fell in love with it completly... even if it is on Long Island. My number 2 choice right now.
2/28 Interviewed with NYMC... not too impressed. I don't know, maybe it was just the area or the fact that I felt like I was in a dorm again... I just can't picture myself living in student housing for another 4 years. I need to get out of res life.
3/7 Invited to interview at AECOM! I didn't think I had a chance... I kissed the check goodbye the second I let the envelope slide from my fingers into the mailbox. I wasn't even complete until after Feb 12th (when they reminded me that my application wasn't complete... which was the first I had heard from them since sending them my AMCAS!). Maybe Einstein is pulling for a physics major in medicine ;)
3/23 Had my interview with AECOM. It went really well. I interviwed with an assistant dean of admissions and he spent the last 10 minutes of my interview trying to convince me to go there. He thought I had the stats and such to even get so much as an interview from schools like Hopkins and Columbia. I didn't want to ruin his image of me, so I left out the fact that they had all rejected me :) But he told me to go to one of those schools 'if I got in...' riiiiiiiight....
5/10 Absolutely extatic! Decided to check my status page for UMass aftre reading about all of the rejection letters going out on SDN. Saw that I was accepted! And just in time to get my deposit back from Stony Brook! I'm sooooooooooooooooo happy!!!
