Summary of Application Experience
Waiting is no fun.... Got my AMCAS in July 1; probably should have had my secondaries in sooner (submitted from 8/1 until 9-30) but I'm working full time and it sucks to come home and write essays.
Current outlook: If I had to guess at this point, I'll probably interview at around 5 or 6 schools and get into 2 or 3. This is probably optimistic though. I hear CCLCM is sweet and I'm kind of interested in their research MS program, but I suppose we'll see how I do.
Yes I know my GPA sucks; I partied a bit much in undergrad. It was worth it (as long as I get in ;o )
Update 10-24:
Spending way too much time at work on SDN and checking status pages and interview reviews. I'm hungry for more interview invitations (especially you NU). ROAR!
Update 11-3:
I'm starting to become resigned to the fact that I won't be getting any more interviews that aren't simply for spots on the waitlist. I called Loyola today only to find that they have reviewed my file, and it has been placed in a pile to be looked at again in JANUARY. Does not bode well for my other applications if I can't get an interview at a school that I grew up 20 miles from. Ack.
Update 11-7:
Got an interview at Dartmouth and an email!!!! rejection from Boston. I'm beginning to think they select people for interviews based upon what type of toothpaste they use and whether or not they eat sardines.
Update 11-30:
I'm going to be a medical student!!!! It's just a question of where. Got home late last night from Cleveland to find Rush acceptance letter in my mailbox. Absolutely loved the Cleveland Clinic.
Update 12-12:
Got back from U of I and Dartmouth interviews. Felt like U of I didn't give me a good picture of the school at all. Didn't even show us Cook County hospital, probably one of the best parts of the Chicago area campus. Dartmouth had a very different feel, very nice hospital, but the medical school is unimpressive. Also, my interviewer straight out told me I should be at a 'research powerhouse' rather than Dartmouth if I wanted to do research in medical school. Very sick of traveling; don't even really want any more interviews. As of now I think CCLCM is top choice (if I get in).
Update 5-15:
Officially going to Rush. Finally done with this godforsaken process. Now it's time to get back to being useless and drinking beer. Lots of beer. And shots.
