Summary of Application Experience
4-4 3.....2.....1......game over. hope my story helps you. 3-28 The drama is finally over. My path wil go thru MSU--and my dream will become a reality. MSU was the last secondary I got, I was put hold for interview as soon as I returned the secondary, I sent an update a week later, and a week later I got invited for an intervierw. I interviewed on a Thurs and got the call on Tues. Guess who's gonna be watchin State in the final 4 tommorrow. and 1 more thing.....all the schools that should have accepted me, but only toyed with my emotions, can now officially kiss my
3-1 Im officially sick of this stupid game. I have realized that even if I was to get off of a waitlist, I couldnt move my whole family on a moments notice. I want closure even if means more rejections!!!!
2-14 Came home from Meharry interview and got an invite from Michigan State-MD. I am begining to wonder what I would have gotten with an 8 or 9 on the PS. What a roller coaster ride.
2-10 Called Chicago to find out if I got in.......and once again Im sent to the waitlist. 3 interviews, 3 waitlists. The 6 week wait was tough, but it was not as bad as getting shot down by Albany, and I didnt really like the school as much as KC. At this point Im coming to the realization that I will be a DO not an MD. So much for doing a good residency at UCLA or that other school across town(xsc).Hopefully some better news after Meharry, but at this point I doubt it.
1-28 Sent upates to almost all the schools where Im still 'alive'. After sending, I got an interview invite to Meharry( though I didnt send them an update). Other than that, the wait continues.
12-20 I now know what people mean by applying late hurts your chances. I also think getting a ps-7 on the MCAT really hurt my chances. Hopefully I will get an interview at an allopathic school that can look past scores.
12-3 I have been invited to and have been to interviews at all the DO schools I applied to. Had to turn down some after I fell in love with KCUMB and was accepted about 4 days after interview. The wait continues for most of the allopathic schools.
I am a non-traditional student. I am married and have a daughter. I returned to college after the 4 years in the Marine Corps. I started at community college and worked hard to get into UCLA. Though I commute about 2 hours a day through LA traffic to get there, I love my school. As if its not hard enough to get the high grades needed for Med school, the application year is BRUTAL. But, once its done, the feeling is amazing(note-this is how I felt after getting into NOVA, a school I wasnt really interested in....the feeling is 10 times better for MSU). Good luck to everyone who has dug in for the fight. And dont forget, if it doesnt kill you, it can only make you stronger.
