Summary of Application Experience
My advice is to do everything as early as possible. Write your personal statement at least 6-9 months in advance...and then scrap your first draft and start again. Take your second draft and have as many people read it as possible -- I had over 20 people read and revise my personal statement. WRITE WITH YOUR HEART! I was told that too often applicants write what they THINK the admissions committee wants to hear. Make your PS about YOU -- what makes you different, why should they select you?! Finish all of your secondaries ASAP. And most of all, remember that patience is a virtue. This is a 'hurry up and wait' game -- a marathon, not a sprint! Good luck to everyone and do not hesitate to e-mail me for advice, questions, etc.
Do NOT give up on your dreams of becoming a doctor. Obviously my MCAT score was below average, but I will preach that you cannot let anything stop or discourage you. Go for what you want with all of your heart and your dreams will come true. Also, patience is a virtue.
Update (6/3/07): The decision to withdraw from MCW to attend IU was one that was very hard. It was a wonderful blessing to have to make such a hard decision, and I realize that. Good luck to everyone.
