I applied for the Medical Scholars Program, a 7 year combined BS/MD programs offered to sophomores at the University of Miami. This enables students to begin medical school at the Miller School of Medicine after completing their third year of undergraduate studies. I did not take the MCAT before applying.I had to provide the school with various letters of recommendation, and outline each of my patient contact experiences. I also had to explain why I thought the MSP was right for me. I prepared very well for the interview through practice and by going over some questions at studentdoctor.net. I was notified of my acceptance to the program in early June. I am obligated to maintain at least 3.4 overall and 3.2 science gpa, and I must take the MCAT although I believe that there is no minimum score needed since the requirements for the program changed after I enrolled.
