  • Brief Profile: I have absolutely no research experience. I've been volunteering in an administrative area and the ER for around 8 months (@ 4 hrs / week).

I work full time as a Software Engineer II with Lockheed Martin (3 yrs). I've been into Judo (and various other martial arts) the past eight or so years and have voluntarily taught children, college students, and law enforcement on and off throughout. I also have 1 professional MMA (cage fighting) match under my belt. I also have about 5 years of experience waiting tables. Other ECs include: College Radio DJ, Rugby, Mensa, Association of Computer Machinists, Montana Tech Alumni Industry Advisory Board Member, paint ball, swing dancing, cooking, sport bikes (motorcycles).

I was also pretty poor growing up, so I intend to apply with disadvantaged status.

    Summary of Application Experience

Applied as economically disadvantaged for AMCAS since it asks for age 0-18. Since I'm an engineer now, I didn't fit the criteria to apply as economically disadvantaged for AACOMAS, which seems to be concerned with your present economic status.

I'm not terribly concerned about where I get in, to be honest. The way I see it, it's up to me to do as well as I can. No institution is going to make an awesome doctor out of a crappy student or vice-versa.

I received my secondary from MCW the day after they got my primary. It didn't require any essays, so I was able to complete it the same day.

    * I got a letter from UAMS admissions saying that you need to have a 3.6 and 9s or better on every section of the MCAT to be accepted OOS by state law. However, when I opened the secondary app, it said that to be accepted OOS, you should 'typically' have a 3.6 and 9/9/9+. There aren't any essays, so I applied.
