8/16 : Checked on Application Status - Complete at most schools - need to call Pitt (412.648.9891)

    10/3 :
    General Update

Complete at all schools except OHSU (just submitted secondary) and Tulane (still trying to determine if I want to submit).

    Interviewed at UCI, went alright.

Pending interview from UCSF and JMP (dream schools!)

    Otherwise, nothing. Patience = Virtue.

    10/10 :
Pitt interview. What is up with these saturday interview invites?

    11/4:
I was finally getting used to the waiting when I finally get some news.

    Waitlisted at UC Irvine.

Bummed, but I'm okay with it. Just gotta keep the swearing to a minimum and don't go on about surfing all the time in your next interview.

    11/13:
UCSF Interview. Wow. I'm in love.

    11/14:
JMP Interview. Crazy curriculum would totally suit me. Not sure how I feel about either commuting or relocating to Berk. Wild interview.

    11/18:
    BU Interview. Sweet deal!

    11/21:
UC Davis Interview. Rains = Pours!
Now I've got to start writing my 'in the area' emails to some east coast schools.

    12/14:
Pitt Interview done and done. Surprisingly enamored by Pittsburgh and PittMed. A touch confused now.

    12/16:
Rejected from Dartmouth. Feels good to get some info, even if it is bad. Kind of like I'm finally on the downhill slope of this journey. Been told be many people that I wouldn't want to go there anyways...that's what you get for choosing a school based on proximity to snowboarding.

    1/8:
Interview offer at OHSU. A nice gleam of positive energy during a personal emergency. Might have to defer med school for a year. Yargh. Confused/Lost/Sad.

    1/29:
Accepted at UCSF! Sweetness! Still not sure if I can go to med school this year, headed overseas in 2 weeks to take care of emergency situation. Decisions decisions.

    2/8(ish):
Accepted at JMP at Berkeley. Whoo! Definitely won't be able to attend this year. Deferral is a definite possibility though.

    2/14:
Been in UK for a couple of days now. The job search is on! Declined interview invite at Jefferson. Sucks, I kinda wanted to check out Philly. Guess Southeast england will have to be a replacement...

    3/6:
    Rejected from GW.

    3/17:
    Rejected from Tufts.

    3/26:
    Rejected from Penn

    3/27:
Got news from the states that rejection letters from NYU, Columbia, Harvard, AECOM and Pitt had arrived over the past month since I've been away. Even with an awesome acceptance in hand this process has the ability to make you feel crap.

    3/31:
Accepted to Boston University. Not super surprising as I bonded with my interviewer 110%. Also, my most honest interview (nothing quite like explaining how punk music relates to medicine). A lesson perhaps? A second option perhaps for deferral? Hmmmm.

    4/12:
Accepted to OHSU. Decision time. OHSU and UCSF were deffo #1 & #2 in my book before starting this process and after visiting them they've been solidified in those places. Ordinarially UCSF would be my top choice, but there is a complicating factor (related to the emergency) that puts a good few points in Portland's court. The real problem is that I am making a decision with not nearly enough information to adequately make it. Fortunately I'm deciding between two great schools, so there isn't really a wrong decision.

    4/16:
    Waitlisted at UC Davis

    5/10:
The application season is largely over. I can't complain as I've been accepted to my top choices, though I'd prefer to have more options (if only for the confidence boost). OSHU isn't allowing me to take a deferral due to my situation, so it seems as though I'll be at UCSF starting in 2010.

    6/12:
Accepted from the waitlist at UC Davis. I'm not particularly stoked (I was hugely unimpressed by their tech-issues through the process and the interview fubar I had to work with). Unless I'm offered some sort of amazing stuff in order to mitigate my situation I'll be sticking with UCSF.
