Summary of Application Experience
I applied for 2007- only California M.D. schools, and I was not accepted. This year, 2008, I applied to the same California schools, and I expanded my net to the D.O. schools in California and Nevada. So far, it's worked! I was accepted at Western University of Health Sciences on 10/24, and Touro University at Mare Island on 12/3. I never cared whether I went to a D.O. or M.D. school, all I have ever wanted is the final result- to be a physician, and I am more than happy to be finally starting my journey in Fall 2008...if I was going to have to take another year off from school, I'm not sure I would have continued on. On a personal note, I applied to California schools because my mother is a cancer survivor and I am close to my family. I learned during college that even a 4 hour distance is hard when someone you love is suffering, and I want to be within a state to those I hold dear. Also, I wanted to stay in California (because I love it here) and because the work opportunities are greater for my boyfriend of 5 years.
