Brief Profile:
My grades were v. erratic my first three years of undergrad. I withdrew and went back a year and half later and made Dean's list first semester. Graduated soon after and started an informal post-bac. Earned a 3.88 in almost 60 hours of coursework with upperlevel classes (Genetics, Biochem, Toxicology, Physiology, Pathophysiology, etc).
I took the MCAT about halfway through my post-bacc, score is average but I really dont want to take that test again.
I applied last cycle with no luck. I was extremely late due to LOR timing. I tried to change things this go-round, if still nothing, i'll def. retake the MCAT and apply to some SMPs.
Regarding activities: Rugby player 250+ volunteer hours in Level 1 Traume Emergency Department one month shadowing doctor's at a university medical center in Nigeria I volunteer at a shelter now, also tutor students in Physics and Biochem at my school, active in my church, worked a crapload of random jobs to pay the bills from bartending to finance underwriter to telephone operator. included some on my AMCAS and not others. also, i assisted a grad student researching the migratory patterns of frogs in undergrad...random, but I put that down as well as that's the closest to research i have.
I applied through Fee Assistance because I couldnt afford the process again. That's why I only have the twelve schools below, all were nice enough to offer waivers on the supplementals granted as well. Financial constraint is the reason you dont see any DO schools, I applied for the AACOMAS fee waiver but was told that their funds had been exhausted.
i'm posting this profile for folks with sub-par stats like me...hope that this ends up being a success story that motivates others.
