Summary of Application Experience
8/28ish: I applied early(er) this year after I screwed up last year by finishing my applications in late October. This year I got AMCAS verified 8/09. Completed most secondaries by 8/22. I'm still waiting to get secondaries from U Indiana, Vanderbilt, and U Minnesota. Received two interview invites so far, one from Tufts, and one from Case Western. I had to call the Case admissions office about my LOR. They said they didn't receive them, but when I called I found out they mixed up my first and last names...
This year's going better already. I've already matched last year's interviews in number, and it's still only August :)
9/05: received two interview invitations yesterday - Georgetown and Vanderbilt. It was a good day.
9/11: I was getting worried because I hadn't heard anything since the day after labor day, but I was pleasantly surprised. An interview from Mt. Sinai! Finally I hear back from an NYC school. Still waiting on NYMC and Albert Einstein. I wonder if I should have given Columbia and Cornell a try.
9/18: Interviewed at Tufts on their very first day of interviews! The facilities are really nice. Library looked just like my alma mater's. There's no campus, but what do you expect in the middle of Boston. And the price is pretty steep, but you would expect to be ridiculously in debt no matter where you go. As for the interviews, I felt like I tripped all over myself when I could've cruised through. My first interviewer was strange. He told me straight up that every aspect of my application is top notch(it isn't), that he'll give the best possible score for the interview, and that he's sure I'll get accepted. He then asked me to ask him questions about Tufts. When I ran out of questions - which didn't take very long because he took about 2 seconds to answer each question, even the tough ones I had prepared - he abruptly ended the interview. My second interviewer was this nice old lady. For some reason I got all nervous because I was shaken up from my first interview, started stuttering and sweating. I felt like I came across as a nervous wreck. Tufts seemed like a very nice place, though.
9/18 later that day. Received interview invitation from Indiana. They told me it would be coming so I wasn't surprised.
9/21: received interview invitation from NYMC! I'm so happy. My prospects of studying in NYC are looking better now. I'll be interviewing back to back at Mt Sinai and NYMC.
10/02: interviewed at Vandy today, received Emory invite 30min before my interview. Yay Emory, one of my top choices!
10/15: Accepted to Tufts on the first possible day! I was thrilled. How will I be able focus on my Georgetown interview tomorrow?
11/26: received two acceptance letters this week! Mt. Sinai and Indiana. I'm so thrilled about Mt. Sinai! Manhattan, here I come.
Later: Flat out rejection by Georgetown. WTH? My Georgetown interview felt like my best performance, although the interviewer acted like he couldn't care less. Oh well, whatever. ???????
