Summary of Application Experience
Just recently settled on going to medical school, and I'm very worried about lack of clinical experience, but I decided to go ahead and apply big this cycle. I might be aiming a little high with weak ECs, but I'm hoping good numbers, good research, and the amount of stuff I've tried to do lately to make myself competitive will at least get me some interviews and I'm hoping I can survive the crap shoot and land at a top place.
Just as a note, I've had some rude messages about being egotistical and not having safeties, but as a South Carolinian, I would be perfectly happy at one of my state schools, so, in my opinion, those are my safeties. Just FYI.
Timeline: 07/18/07: Finally submitted AMCAS. I was in limbo for a while becasue I was getting my pre-med advisor to give my PS a read, but she was out of town and then it took her a week and a half to read it :P . But anyways, it's done now, and I'm 'ready for review' so I'm going to focus on my summer research for a while and put the med school stuff on the back burner till my AMCAS is certified. Hopkins and Dartmouth are the only schools on my list that have open, online apps but I'm not worrying about that now. 08/07/07: Got verified today, no 'under review' status. Contrary to what I said earlier, I have started on some of the Hopkins and Dartmouth stuff, and I'm hoping once I hear from them, I can submit pretty soon. Other than that, I absolutely have to finish my summer research in the next week and a half, but after that, I have 3 full weeks at home to work on secondaries, so hopefully things will be settled by then and I can crank 'em out. 08/08/07: UPenn secondary recieved. Really excited!
