I'm a 2nd time applicant from the 2005-2006 cycle. I applied to 16 MD schools and received 1 interview from an in-state school. I was rejected pre- or post-secondary by the others. At that time, I knew pretty much nothing about osteopathic medicine. I started reading and talking about it with my friends and family but still wasn't sure. Then, I went to an open house at VCOM (fall 2006) and WVSOM (spring 2007), and I loved it and can see a place for me to fit into osteopathic medicine especially with my background in public health. So, here goes round 2! I'm applying to 3 of my in-state MD schools and several DO schools.

I'm really excited about applying and working my hardest to get everything done EARLY EARLY EARLY!!!! GOOD LUCK to everyone! :)

    4/7/2007 - re-took MCAT (scores released 5/9/2007 [fingers crossed])

4/2007 - asking for letters of recommendation; writing personal statement; completing spring semester post-bacc classes and hoping they raise my GPA

5/9/2007 - MCAT scores are in. I was hoping for more improvement, but for now I'll take it!

    5/18/2007 - Pre-med committee file is complete.

6/5/2007 - AMCAS has received all of my transcripts.

7/2/2007 - AACOMAS still hasn't received one of my transcripts...eek! I overnight another copy.

    7/2/2007 - AMCAS & AMCOMAS submitted...yay...finally!

7/5/2007 - AMCOMAS has received all of my transcripts

7/13/2007 - AMCAS processing is complete!

7/16/2007 - I received my 1st secondary from ECU. Time to write more essays...my fav...haha...eww!

7/19/2007 - AACOMAS processing is complete!

8/27/2007 - Via email I received my 1st interview invite from WVSOM! I'm thrilled! Now if I could just send in a few more secondaries!

9/3/2007 - It's labor day, and I'm spending the entire day slaving away at secondary essays. Wish me luck. :)

9/13/2007 - VCOM just called to invite me to interview next week (9/19/2007)....YAYAY!! I'm so excited!! :)

9/27/2007 - VCOM called and I'M IN!!!!!!! I'm soooo happy!!! They are my #1 choice. I will withdraw from my WVSOM interview. I'm not sure what I will do about the other schools.

9/28/2007 - I decided to withdraw from WVSOM and cancel the interview. WVSOM is an amazing school, but I just have this feeling that VCOM is the best fit for me.

10/10/2007 - DMU emailed an interview invite today...Wow, what a great school!

10/23/2007 - After some thought, I have chosen to withdraw from DMU. I've lived in the midwest before, but I find myself happier at this point in my life closer to my family in the southeast.

12/6/2007 - I mailed in the $1200 deposit today!! VCOM is the ONE!! I have such an amazing feeling about the program and location. I can't wait for August 2008! :)
