    Summary of Application Experience

Despite what you may hear, it is beneficial to apply as soon as you possibly can. I approached the process with the understanding that my mcat scores and to a lesser degree my gpa, were less than what I was applying against, so I guess I kind of had a chip on my shoulder. I also believe that my essays, my experience and my interviews really helped me. I applied last year straight out of undergrad and didn't do much at all, not even an interview. So it can happen as long as you as an applicant are honest with yourself and work to fix the holes in the your resume. I took one semester of graduate level biology classes also after UT graduation, I think that helped pushed me over the top as well. Oh yeah and the best bit of advice I can give an applicant: Major in something that you can get good grades in. It sounds stupid, but I majored in Micro and challenged myself academically, and my GPA fell a little bit as a result. I love micro, but I should have majored in psych or socio probably. I would have had near a 4.0, had more time to prepare for the mcat, and would have, believe it or not, looked better in the eyes of admissions committees.
