4/25 - Made my MDAPP... finally joined. Any feedback is appreciated. My list right now is preliminary if there are any schools anyone thinks I should add or drop please let me know, and good luck to everyone this cycle.
6/5 submitted AMCAS on the first day possible...
6/8 amcas verified, now have a nice little break until they transmit my app on June 21st to all the schools....
7/18 finally updated my mdapps... the secondaries have kept me pretty damn busy. but the key is:
R= received
S= submitted
C= complete
the interview invite to pittsburgh, although automatic probably, is a nice positive reinforcement as i chug along through the rest of these secondaries. comments welcome as always.
7/25 another update. basically just a few more apps submitted and completed. oh, and pretty excited received a secondary from Indiana University, which means that I will definitely be getting an interview there. So far, 2 interviews = twice as many as all last year. applying early and broadly is the key.
8/3 few more complete and an interview at SUNY upstate... sweeet!
8/10 completing most of the rest. missed loyola's deadline, my bad. wasn't too keen on that school anyways. interview at wake, which will be nice cause one of my good friends from undergrad is starting there this year and i can just crash at his place. waiting to hear back from most everywhere.... feels good to have 5 invites this year as opposed to 1 total last year.. with the same stats and ECs
8/16 After a week of silence, yesterday I got 2 more invites Case Western and St. Louis, bringing my total up to 8 i think, which is a dream come true. Along with those 2 invites came my first rejection of the cycle, from Pritzker, which was a big reach for me I know, so I wont let it get me down.
8/27 no good news to update this time really.. just a few more completed apps, and unfortunately some rejections and waitlists.
9/11 so i've been a little busy. but i have gone on my first two interviews: Pitt and UVA. both schools are incredible and I would be honored to attend either. waiting until october 15th is going to suck, but oh well, can't complain too much. getting ready for Wake on Friday.... no new interviews to speak of. well interview at Medical College of Wisconsin. but scheduled that one for november, hoping i'll get in somewhere else before that. (been almost a month without a new interview, crap). and rejected from gtown.
10/8 went on two more interviews since last time... SUNY Upstate and Wake Forest. I like each school and would be happy to go to either, although Pitt and UVA remain my top choices. rejected from GWU in the mean time. and this morning, after around 10 weeks of having no new interview invitations, I received an email from Ohio State offering me an interview for late November. Pretty pumped. this last week of waiting for 10/15 is going to take forever though I feel.
10/10 ACCEPTED TO WAKE FOREST HELLS YA
10/20 invited to suny b-lo, may or may not go. rejected post interview from UVA which sucks, cause i love uva and thought my interview went really well. waiting to hear back post interview from upstate and pitt, headed to case on monday.
12/4 rejected from pitt (waste of time), high priority wait list at upstate, hold at case. withdrew from all my other interviews other than ohio state. really liked ohio state, was there last week and should hear back post interview any day know. would love to get in there, probably would choose it over WAKE. will be sending an update to CASE to try to get them to look at my app again (really really liked it there too).
i've found out that all decent med schools make themselves look really good for interviews, and that you will be FINE going to any one that you can be happy at. you learn the same things, each school has similar perks and quirks, and fitting in is the key.
3/25 updated this thing maybe for the last time.... basically just put in a bunch of rejections. i w/d from a bunch of interviews after getting into wake cause i really liked wake and knew i would choose it over said schools... .so as of now wake is my only acceptance, but one is all you need!! still hoping for case possibly as i was just put on the alternate list which is better than rejection from the hold... so we will seeee!
