Summary of Application Experience
January
* 1/26 Accepted to LECOM on Thurs and NSUCOM on Friday ... what a week, it feels so good to finally get in, I'm going to wait on my AZCOM interview and make a decision then.
*I had an interview at LECOM on 1/12, and NSUCOM on 1/19. Both of them went really well, and I am fairly certain that I will get in both. I have interviews at AZCOM and Touro - MI, I will be going to the AZCOM one for sure, but if I get an acceptance from NSUCOM I'll cancel the Touro interview.
*Sorta bummed out about not getting an invite to CCOM, I really felt I had strong LORs, Mcat, and Ec's for this school, unfortunately they didn't feel the same. Whats strange is I got an interview right away from AZCOM and rejected pre interview from CCOM and my cousin who applied in the same cycle got rejected pre interview from AZCOM and was accepted to CCOM.
December
*Waitlisted at MSUCOM ... well this sucks
*So I got put on HOLD at DMU, its a great school so I was hoping for an interview, I think my stats are competitive, and I thought my personal statement would get my foot in the door here
*Waitlisted at Touro - NV - this one hurt, my first interview, I was doubting my interview skills, I called the dir. of admissions afterwards and we went over my interview and file. No negative comments at all across the board, the only 'bad' comment listed was 'not sure if he wants to move out west'
So he tells me my MCAT is abover their average, but my gpa is below it, which probably got me on the waitlist ... what pissed me off is if my gpa is low why didn't you ask me a single question about it at the interview?? He told me the waitlist is ranked by MCAT, so I'm near the top, and that last year 30 people got off the waitlist, we'll see what happens.
November
I'm playing the waiting game now, in the past month I have sent out about 18 secondaries (about 10 MD and 8 DO) ... so we'll see what happens.
I took the August MCAT in 06, I was planning on taking the April but I just wasn't ready.
So my story is that my freshman year I had a terrible GPA (2.7 and 2.9). I changed my studying habits and got a 3.5 and 3.6 my soph year and have been trying to bring my gpa up ever since.
