Summary of Application Experience
My intention in creating this profile is to give CUNY students and students from less well-known undergraduate colleges encouragement in their application process. As long as you represent yourself and your experience in an honest and compelling way, admissions committees will consider you a serious candidate. Be confident! You can get into your dream school.
I submitted early and was complete at most places by the beginning of August. September was a crazy month between work and interviews but I've enjoyed visiting the schools and talking to the students. Some of my wonderful interview-related experiences include a road trip with my Dad and seeing some old friends that have left NY.
10/17/06- I am just so happy! I loved Pitt and Upstate when I visited and am overjoyed to be accepted at both of these schools. It was so kind of them to provide for acceptance notification in advance of anything coming through the mail.
10/19/06-Bad weather, good news! Rochester is an incredible school, and everyone there was so friendly. Another pre-snail mail phone call. I like a school that cares.
10/20/06- Mixed feelings about withdrawing from SUNY Stonybrook. I wanted to check it out, but I've just been missing too much work. I know I probably wouldn't go there over Pitt. Important meeting scheduled on interview day clinched it for me.
10/23/06- Happy Mole Day! Got Rochester's acceptance letter in the mail and a surprise acceptance from Dartmouth. It's early for them, I think, but I'm not complaining. I had an awesome interview day there enhanced by the road trip I took with my Dad.
11/15/06- Hard day doing research on an antiquated system, but I was rewarded with an acceptance phone call from Pritzker!
11/16/06- Can't believe it, I got into Sinai! My uncle who went there nearly detonated with pride.
11/29/06- I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. I sure did. Now it's back to the grindstone... In other news, I withdrew from Case and CCLM today. They're great programs, but not ideal for me.
12/22/2006- And happy holidays to me! Acceptances at NYU and Cornell this week, and I am walking on air. Plus a loooong weekend with friends. I hope everyone out there has a good one.
1/15/2007- I got an acceptance letter via snail mail from AECOM. Thanks for all of your help and support Mike! Happy new year to my fellow applicants. I've decided to withdraw from Georgetown. DC is a great city, but I felt more at home with some of my other options.
1/23/07- Weirdly invited to interview at WashU at this late stage.
1/26/07- Rejected from Hopkins. Ouch.
2/15/07- Decided not to interview at Wash U. It was just a bad time to take off and I need my job.
4/29/07- Having a very difficult time deciding. I've dropped most of my acceptances by now. It's really a decision between the money at Einstein and the curriculum at Cornell. Any help would be appreciated!
5/15/07- One of the hardest decisions I ever made. AECOM it is! I think I'm going to love it there, though, to be honest with myself, Cornell would have been awesome too. Yale is still my absolute top choice so if I come off the waitlist, I'll go there.
6/9/07- Got into Yale! One sweet dream came true today!!! I hereby declare this process over. The saga continues in New Haven...
