Summary of Application Experience
*****Short and sweet of it - apply early early early. I got alot more interviews than someone with my stats might in the later part of the season. Good luck to all my non-trad friends! It can be done!*****
3/1/07 - So the rest of this was just idle wheel spinning. USUHS was first choice at the beginning of this journey and is the final choice at the end. Bethesda or bust!! :) 2/21/07 - One word...FAFSA.... UGH!!! It took four tries before I could get the thing completed and submitted without having all my info lost! 12/30 For the new year I've sent my updated grades to schools!! :) TMDSAS schools seem to be finished with pre-match and interviews. Happy New Year! 11/29 - Well, after lots of 'what ifs' and thinking, declined Tech and TCOM acceptances. I know I would have been fine at any of the schools that accepted me, but I guess given the choice I would prefer to go back home. Now to decide between USUHS and UT-SA - this could take a while. 11/15 - The TMDSAS acceptances are finally coming in... TCOM, UTHSCSA, and Tech!!! It's decision time! Yippee!! 11/1 - USUHS acceptance... YEAH!!! 10/4 - I was in the airport returning from what I thought was my last interview when I got the email invite from Baylor.... one word - WOW... 9/20 - Withdrew pre/post-secondary from a few of schools. I'm happy with the interview invites so far and need to concentrate on schools we can actually afford for me to attend. Being a non-trads has its own special set of worries.... 9/6 - Rejected from Mayo :( Not unexpected, but still disheartening. Looking on the bright side, but I did manage to get one interview under my belt last week and heard from the OOS screeners - more secondaries to do now. 8/21 - USUHS interview invite - and what a shock - I need to reschedule it too!! Good grief, Charlie Brown! 8/8 - Invite to Texas A&M for late Aug. Need to resched this one too.... next time I won't have a baby just before interview season (hahaha - please please please don't let there be a next time - one application cycle is enough, thank you!!!) 7/29 - Invite to Texas Tech interview. Sept is going to be busy. 7/25 - Email invite to UTHSC-SA interview. YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! 7/24 - LORs sent to all AMCAS schools I've completed secondaries for - sent electronically even!! I LOVE TECHNOLOGY! 7/22 - All LORs are finally in! And TMDSAS forwarded my remaining LORs to schools this week - so Tx schools are showing my app as complete. I guess I'm just in wait mode for a bit. 7/20 - Submitted Baylor on 7/17, submitting USUHS tomorrow - 1 left in the queue, 1 still waiting for receipt (Emory). No word from the OOS screeners (MCG, U of Ala, and U of South Ala) yet. But things are moving forward. 7/14 - 1 more secondary submitted, 3 in the queue. But 2 are almost done. This has been going for 45 days now and I feel like I've been applying forever. This is what they mean by this being a marathon, not a sprint. Good thing I've run a few of those. :) 7/10 - Banner day!!! Interview invite from UTMB. 7/5 - I'm verified!! Now the real work begins. Bring on the secondaries! 7/3 - still waiting for AMCAS verification, FRUSTRATION is setting in. 6/30 - AMCAS app still haven't moved from 'ready for review', send email to find out what is going on 6/25 - Three secondarys for TMDSAS schools complete, 1 left. 6/21 - TMDSAS app sent to schools. 6/16 - last transcript FINALLY arrives to both TMDSAS and AMCAS (that was the third attempt to get it sent - $50 total for the transcript that I ended up having to RUSH to get in before the MCAT score release glut. UGH!) 6/7 - AMCAS submitted 6/1 - TMDSAS submitted - and immediately found I used the word 'new' instead of 'knew' in para 1 of my essay - ARGHH!
