  • Brief Profile: I am kind of a non-trad. I started college right out of high school but due to financial reasons I couldn't continue after my first semester. Illinois National Guard fixed that and I was able to go to community college while working. Got my Associates in Science and transferred to UIC. After 3 semester at UIC, my wife got accepted to SIU's Physician Assistant program so I transferred down here. That explains the numerous amounts of colleges attended. I have been able to complete all my prereqs at a 4 year institution.

    Summary of Application Experience

06/28- Right now I am just completing the final draft of my PS. Hope to submit this weekend. Still looking for some more schools to apply to, any input would be appreciated. GPA is not calculated by AMCAS yet, but as soon as it is I wiil edit it if it changes(I hope it doesn't). Taking a summer class at SIU so I can graduate on time after transferring. I am also studying for August MCAT's. On the practice test I have been averaging 10's and 11's. I hope to squeak out a point or two more in August. That's about it for now.

07/07-Well, that was anti-climatic. I spent so much time writing, entering, double-checking, and triple-checking and all I get is a 'thank you for using AMCAS.' Well, that and a $430 hole in my bank account. At least I submitted my AMCAS and I don't have to worry about if for a little while. I am still waiting for all my transcripts to get there, but since I don't take the MCAT's till August I am not too worried. Now all I have to do is finish my TMDSAS and wait for secondaries ( and study my a$$ off for the MCAT).

07/12-Just submitted my TMDSAS. I had the transcripts and LOR's sent in a week or so ago, so they should be getting them soon. I had to wait a couple of days to finish TMDSAS because of a mid-term exam in my summer class, but at least it is submitted.

08/11-Notified today that I was verified for AMCAS. I have been verified for TMDSAS for a couple of weeks. I also recieved secondary for MCW at the same time as the AMCAS e-mail. My verified GPA is above, my class work on AMCAS has a whole lot of X's because they changed my class standings. I listed my class standing only using transferable credits, but they count my paramedic credits and firefighting credits even though they are not transferable to a 4 year institution, oh well, I can at least explain that. MCAT's are in less than two weeks and then hopefully more secondaries and invites will come in.

8/19-Took the MCAT now just waiting the two months for scores to be released. I've recieved all of my secondaries from non-screening schools and will work on those for the next two months.

10/19-Okay, it has been 2 months since the MCAT's and I only have 3 secondaries done. I unfortunately have to watch money being that both my wife and I are in school and we are picking away at our savings. I basically just wanted to wait and see my MCAT score to make sure I wouldn't be wasting money. I am very pleased with my score and am now in a mad dash to finish up secondaries. I have already been working on essays, so it is just a matter of putting finshing touches on them and getting in my LOR's so I am only frieken' out a little right now.

6/2007-Final decision made to attend UIC, will be going to Urbana and then onto Peoria.
