Summary of Application Experience
2005: didn't get a single interview the first time around, most likely due to my dismal 1st MCAT score of 24Q (hurts, I know) and my GPA of 3.28.
2006: 2 interviews this go round both at state schools, VCU and EVMS. took the MCAT a second time after screwing Kaplan and studying my own way and did a bit better (32R)!! got the GPA up to 3.41 my senior year so I'm a bit more competitive now. anyways, still waiting to hear from both schools as of 5/16...
4/14/06: got accepted to the EVMS Medical Master's Program. well, at least I have somewhere to go next year. but geez, I really don't want to have to do the AMCAS again...
6/5/06: my acceptance to EVMS was sent out to my old address in South Carolina even after I had updated my address with the school 2 weeks earlier.
6/21/06: got a letter from EVMS telling my that tuition had increased. needless to say, I was a bit confused having not received my acceptance letter (see above) so I called Ms. Castora and she explained I had been accepted and offered congratulations!
6/26/06: finally received my official letter of acceptance to EVMS! just goes to show that miracles (getting off a waitlist) do occur. just work hard and don't give up. p.s. i withdrew from the Med Master's prgram so let's hope someone deserving gets my spot there.
