Summary of Application Experience
It's been a rough ride but the end is in sight. I've just found this site and the accompanying student doctor network. It's probably a good thing I didn't find it before I applied, as it is evident that my numbers are far from great and I might have been dissuaded from applying. I still have a good chance, I hope. I took 6 classes at UCSD in an informal post-bac program. While I maintained a 4.0+ in the classes, I later found that schools were still not convenience I ?could handle a full academic load at med school? because I had only taken 2 classes at a time. Granted I worked full time as a clinical researcher (was subsequently published) and am a substitute teacher. If a post-bac program is in your future and you can afford it, go to a formal program.
Update: I've been accepted (and not from a waitlist) to NYMC. I made it with under a 3.0 science GPA!
Update: Got off the South waitlist and with a heavy heart gave up my position at NYMC. I was looking forward to everything NYMC had to offer but I couldn't ignore the HUGE financial burden going there would mean to my future.
