Summary of Application Experience
APPLY TO A BACKUP PLAN. I thought I was guaranteed to get in somewhere, so I did not apply to backup plans. Then, by the time I realized I wouldn't get in, a lot of backup plan deadlines had past.
LOW VERBAL SCORES WILL KILL YOUR CHANCES. If a 14 and a 12 did not compensate for a low verbal, I don't know what will. Apparently, some people have gotten in with a 6 in verbal before. I don't know how.
WORK HARD UNTIL YOU GET ACCEPTED: I bombed senior year classes thinking that med schools will never see it, that I was guaranteed to get in this year, and that those grades won't ever matter.
FUTURE PLAN: train for ironman triathlon (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, 26.2 mile run); shadow some doctors, get 1-on-1 verbal tutoring; continue working for Princeton Review teaching the ACT, SAT, and 2 sections of the MCAT (bet you can't guess which ones); looking for a research job; maybe taking classes at U of Memphis if I can't find full time job; REAPPLYING
