Brief Profile:
I'm leaving this up in case my story helps anyone else. I applied to med school at 34 from a professional background in tech and teaching. I applied to 37 schools since I didn't have my MCAT score at time of submittal. Many folks will tell you that that's way too many, but I came very close to attending a school that probably wouldn't have made the list if I'd trimmed the number to 20 (UVM- most under-rated med school I know). If you want to apply to a lot of schools, just be prepared to devote the time to finishing the secondaries. If you're not willing to devote the time, apply to fewer. Nothing kills your chances more than rushed secondaries.
After sitting happily on an acceptance to UVM and getting ready to move to the east coast, I was accepted three weeks before classes started at here UC Davis and couldn't be happier with my decision. It's definitely the right school for me. Best of luck to all of you applying out there. It's a long tough road and I hope the cycle treats you kindly.

Summary of Application Experience
10/12/2006- Received MCAT scores. Performed better on Verbal than expected, slightly worse on Physicial and about what I expected on Bio. Felt I did awful on Bio and was right. Excellent... 10/21/2006- Added three more schools. Since getting my MCAT results, the only movement was Davis' and UIC secondary. Hope this menas they can live with my MCAT, but maybe they jumped the gun? 11/06/2006- First actual rejection from Mayo, plus a pre-interview hold from MCW. Two days later received pre-interview rejection from BU. 11/13/2006- Rejected by WVU. There is a requirement for 9's in each of the MCAT sections for OOSers. Can't argue with their policy. Really wish some of these other schools would fish or cut bait... 11/20/2006- Rejections from UH and Northwestern. Upside, had secondary requests from Loyola and UCLA/Drew. 11/27/2006- First interview invitation! To UCSF no less! Makes up for the preinterview hold from Univ of Chicago and rejection at UPitt. 12/04/2006- Rejections from UTMB and UCSD. 12/18/2006- Rejections from EVMS, U of Washington, and U of Chicago. 01/01/2007- Interview invite from University of Vermont and UIC! 01/22/2007- Rejections from Dartmouth and UVa. Presumed rejections from Texas match. 02/05/2007- Rejection from University of Colorado. 02/12/2007- Rejection from UCI 02/26/2007- Rejection from UTSW. Actually appreciated, as it lets me know my mailbox still works. 03/05/2007- My first medical school acceptance! ACCEPTANCE FROM UIC! (also a rejection from Tufts, UCLA and Drew, but I can take it...) 03/12/2007- Interview invite from MCW! Rejection from USC. 03/19/2007- Interview invite from UCD! But is it for waitlist? 03/26/2007- Rejected from Penn 04/09/2007- ACCEPTANCE FROM UVM. Delighted. It's a great school.. 04/22/2007- Got spot on MCW waitlist 04/29/2007- Rejected from LMU (about time). Moved to UIC Chicago campus! 05/06/2007- Rejected from Temple (about time) 05/13/2007- Officially withdrew from UIC. Tough decision... 05/20/2007- Rejection from RFU. Also officially withdrew from MCW's waitlist. Davis vs. UVM now... 05/27/2007- Rejection from Drexel. 06/29/2007- ACCEPTANCE FROM UC DAVIS!!!
