7/19/17 You basically need to be Mother Theresa with a biochemistry degree to get in this school coming from outside the Washington region. They send you a short essay request to see if you line up with their mission before they even give you a secondary. I was rejected after I submitted the essay.

7/18/17: FIRST INTERVIEW INVITE?? SO QUICKLY!? IM BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS
8/25/17: PROS: UF is huge and the people are great. The new Harell building is very nice and we spent most of the day here.. The interviews are super low stress and more like a nice conservation. Just know your application and be ready for questions about you as a person. There is construction at UF so thats good. Theyre going to finish a new Cancer and Cardiovascular building and its going to be a very top notch. UF doesnt give too much financial aid but tons of funding for student activities.....and food...so much food. The proximity to the hospitals is pretty nice too, so you can get shadowing whenever you want. Hospital cafeteria has a Wendys, Chik-fil-A, Panda Express, Einsteins, and a Subway (some of my favorite places to eat). UF has tons of interest clubs and extracurricular to get involved in so youll never get bored.
CONS: Gainesville is a little too small town for me. I like suburban areas leaning more towards the urban side. I grew up in Florida but I never liked the weather. Gainesville is like Florida humidity on crack. The anatomy labs are pretty old but they get the job done. The hospital buildings are nice, but they didnt really wow me (this is just probably from my crazy high expectations). Also, there wasnt as much diversity as I wouldve expected.
OVERALL: UF definitely set the standard for my other interviews. Really good school, nice people, and good facilities. UF accepts about 65% of the people they interview so Im optomistic!
10/16/17: ACCEPTED! First acceptance and its one of my top 5 choices! Im s o thankful!!! Thank you GOD!

8/11/17 : Interview Invite from my future Alma Mater! Thank you GOD!
10/6/17: PROS: UCF is such a good school. Goregeous facilities (hands down best Ive seen). The entire Lake Nona area is beautiful and I could picture myself calling it home, if I kind of already didnt (may parents house is about 10 minutes from the school). Lake Nona MThey really care about students. Its in Orlando so it has a nice location and the students seemed happy. Cost of living isnt bad either even though the area is so goregeous and there are a lot of new places popping up.
CONS: UCF is a relatively new school. Im pretty sure its less than 15 years old. That may be attractive to some people because it gives you an opportunity to make your mark on the school. Its not for me, though. It doesnt have its own teaching hospital yet but the plans are set in motion. There is the new VA adjascent to the school (one of the most beautiful hospitals Ive been in) and Neumers close to the school, but rotations are usually done in other hospitals farther from the school (which Im not down with). Theres a mandatory research project which is good in a lot of ways, but didnt really interest me. Id really like to go here, but I also feel like Ive lived in Orlando too long.
11/1/17: ACCEPTED! Glad I have some options.

8/15/17: Interview Invite! So grateful!
10/13/17: PROS: It was a really good interview. I definitely loved the diversity of the school and of Miami in general. All the hospitals are adjascent to the med school campus which is very nice. You can shadow whenever you want and you have the freedom to do what interests you. What really interested me about Miami is the different pathologies you could see at UM (specifically Jackson Memorial). Its probably one of the best places to train as a doctor in the state. Plans are underway for a gorgeous new education building. The one they have now is in need of improvement. Student life seems really good. A lot of students live in apartments or on the beach. If I was to go to Miami, Id definitley want to do the MD/MPH program. Theres soo much opportunity to do population health and they make it super easy obtain the extra degree. My interviewer was awesome and the students were hilarious. Food was the best that Ive had at an interview (it was Lasagna).
CONS: Some negatives would definitely be the Miami traffic and the aged education building. Cost of living was pretty high, but I mean its Miami. Traffic also isnt great and its a little crowded, but this is just me being picky. Other than that, it was an amazing school and Id love to attend!
10/26/17: ACCEPTED int o MD and MD/MPH! So grateful! Thank you GOD! I have family in Miami and they were hyped when I told them!
