    Summary of Application Experience

12/15 I haven't heard from any of the schools in New England. I'm beginning to worry that what some people say about the reputation of undergrad mattering may be true...
I've gotten interviews at my two top choice schools: Mayo and Duke. However, I still feel worried-I feel like I'm borderline for the top schools.... I guess we'll see what happens.
1/29- The stress of waiting is beginning to get to me.... It's nice to be in at Vandy, but I'm wishing that I would hear from one of my top choice schools. However, I don't interview at Mayo or Columbia until later, and Duke is non-rolling.
2/1 I was really surprised to get a Baylor invite so late. If only Hopkins would follow their example...
2/28 Now that February is at an end, I am assuming rejections from UMich and Hopkins- no need for a letter to come to confirm the inevitable. I'm still hoping for an acceptance from Duke or Mayo... Other than that, though, I think I'll for sure go to Cleveland Clinic...
3/5 The Duke acceptance letters have traveled all the way to CA, but nothing at my family's home in Dallas- I feel sick, especially after my interview at Mayo went so badly. It's weird, because I thought my interview at Duke went really smoothly- guess you can never predict, especially when you're a caucasian applicant with a lower MCAT score...It looks like I won't be at my first or second choice, but Cleveland Clinic was #3 so I suppose I can't complain too much...
3/12 Unless I get an acceptance from my dream school, Mayo, I'll probably be at Cleveland Clinic. I really liked the small class size, great financial aid and incredible research opportunities. Vandy is a temptation, because of prestige, but it's a lot more expensive and I don't like the curriculum as much.
3/29 The admissions process is now basically over for me. Four waitlists and four acceptances out of the places I interviewed isn't a bad record. At this point it looks like Cleveland, but it's hard to turn down Vanderbilt since it's more established. If I get in off the waitlist at Mayo, I'll definitely go- the others would be harder choices to make...
5/30 I forgot to post before, but I decided to go to Cleveland Clinic-the program is awesome; the hospital is incredible, and my fellow classmates are people who also turned down other great schools to go there, so I'm feeling confident the program will be a great success. At this point, I'm still waiting on Mayo (and possibly Duke), but Mayo's waitlist is so hopelessly long that it's looking like 99% chance of me being at Cleveland.
