Summary of Application Experience
Applying to 25 medical schools, because I'm in a weird in-between place and don't want to apply again! Let's see how this goes down.
Just a note: I submitted all my secondaries within 1-3 weeks of receiving them, but wasn't complete at a lot of places until late July-early August, because my school didn't submit the committee letter until then.
10/17: Wow. I'm in a dark place right now to be honest. I interviewed at 4 schools in September (2 more in October before today) and I didn't get a single acceptance today. It feels really shitty honestly. I woke up this morning super excited because I was told by everyone that today was the ~big day~ that acceptances would start coming out. I was stuck to my phone all day from 5 AM basically. Checking it every few minutes. Absolutely nothing. At first it was OK because no one was posting on the SDN forums or the premed subreddit that they had any acceptances either. Then people were posting about acceptances, but not at the schools that I interviewed at. Then they started posting about being accepted at those schools too. I went and looked back at previous SDN threads and people who didn't get accepted the first day and interviewed in September almost always got waitlisted within the next few days. Guess there's nothing to do but mope a little and then prepare for the next 4 interviews. I thought I'd done really well on at least one or two of them already, but I guess not. I'm not even sure what to do to improve my interview skills :(
10/31: I AM OFFICIALLY GOING TO BE A DOCTOR. Just got my first acceptance to med school!!! THANK YOU GWU!! I thought I did sooo poorly in this interview, because it was my first one but I'm glad they didn't think so. Found out sitting in a coffee shop and I leapt to my feet ran outside and ran up and down the sidewalk yelping haha. EDIT: Two acceptances in one day!!!! It was a very Happy Halloween. ALSO, to future applicants please don't hype up October 15th too much in your mind. You can still get accepted after even if people who interviewed at the same time/after you hear back then.
Summary of Experience:
Tbh it was dope just to be invited to fill out a secondary. I don't really love the SF area, but UCSF would give me amazing experience with underserved and LGBT communities.
Summary of Experience:
HPWL. Weird that this school didn't accept me cause it's sort of a state school. At the interview, my interviewer asked me why I would choose Jefferson over the other schools that will probably admit me and I didn't have a good answer... Also my interview was a day after receiving my first acceptance so I might've been a little flippant with the whole thing. Also I had a migraine and had to step out of the interview day for an hour or so. All in all, a pretty stellar fuck-up and I wish I could redo it cause this is an amazing school.
Summary of Experience:
By far the cheapest school I've gotten into. Also the highest ranked I think. It'll be a very tough decision come April! :( but also :D
Summary of Experience:
Top choice. Applying to MD/MPH.
SOOO STOKED to be accepted here! Absolutely loved the feel of the school and how nice all the students were to each other and the applicants. It'll come down to this vs UTSW in the end I think. Good thing I have like 5 months to decide cause this is going to be a toughie!
1/15: Asked to be considered for MD program as well, because I didn't really like the Palm Beach County campus.
