Summary of Application Experience

Applied to MD/PhD and MSTPs only.

In the written portions of my application, I emphasized my early interest in science and medicine, research that straddles clinical and scientific knowledge, and passion for education/teaching.

Academics:
UG major was BME with a math minor (graduated Spring 2017); also currently pursuing a MS/BS in MSE (due to graduate Spring 2018).

Research:
2000 hours in three different labs; experience in molecular biology, biotech device development, and bioinformatics. PhD research interests include TERM, stem cell therapy, and biomaterials synthesis and characterization.
Multiple presentations/posters at university events, no publications.

Healthcare experience:
100 hours as an ER volunteer at an inner city hospital. No shadowing before application submission.

Other extracurricular activities:
Volunteer and instructor at multiple science outreach events, member of university music group, university-level awards for research/service/academic achievement, other misc. community engagement activities.
