8/3/05 - Tomorrow morning is my Northwestern interview. I got over the whole 'being anxious' thing and i spent the whole night in the bathtub. UC Irvine, Vanderbilt, and Dartmouth were lovley interviews. They were all concered more with my life exerpeinces than with my research or school related extracurricular thingies. We talked about photo, painting, Japan, what not. Funny Dartmouth story... one interviewer i had started BREASTFEEDING during my interview. How wonderful!
10/17/05 - Got my first waistlist. I F%$^ING HATE WAITING!
10/24/05 - So i got Brown, UPenn, and UCLA just as i thought i wasn't going to get more interviews. Horray!
11/01/05 - They keep on commin... just got a yale interview. ROCK ON!
11/16/05 - UCI acceptance. Score. I've been so conflicted on where i should go. UCI was great, i'm near my family (15mins), all my freinds and hobbies are around here... Say i don't get into UCLA and get into some realy good east coast school. Do i go to UCI in wonderful sunny california or move across the country, allllll the way across the country, for a more prestigeous school? I HAVE NO FREAKING IDEA. I will probably be happiest here. Too early to talk though, let's wait and see!
11/25/05 - Emory accepetance. STOKED! Lets keep them comming!
02/25/05 - UCLA ACCEPTANCE!!! A dream come true... a moment i have litterally been dreaming about for months. WILL ATTEND!I fully believe that it was my interview skillz in kahoots with my diverse background and talents/passions OUTSIDE of pre-medicine that got me accepted. My application lacked any leadership activities or any substantial pre-med EC's outside of research and hosptial stuff. Just advice for people applying in the future years: Keep it diverse - paint, sing, go fishing, learn to sail, start a brewery in your backyard - it all helps more than you think! I talked about all this stuff in my essay, i'm sure it came up in my letters of rec (most professors and doctors knew and talked to me about my hobbies), and my interviewer at UCLA was definatly very, very interested in all i had to say about my hobbies. Just some advice for future applicants! I'm off to get ready for a Punk show i'm playing tonight in Long Beach. Good luck to everyone - my journey is over, and a new one begins.
