Summary of Application Experience
My application experience was rather unique. After getting my engineering degree in May, I decided to go to med school. However, I hadn't taken any orgo, bio, biochem, or gen chem (had AP credit for gen chem) and I had to take the MCAT in Aug to apply for fall 05 admission. Long story short, I took the MCAT while enrolled in orgo and without taking any bio or biochem. Because of my Aug MCAT, no clinical experience, and no research experience, I had to delay my application until I could add these things. And because of that, I applied to most of the schools right near the deadlines and I'm sure it hurt me.
Overall, I found the application process to be horrific, but I'm sure most people are not going to do all the things I had to do.
User #3614 took the old MCAT and scored a 29 which is in the 73th percentile of all old scores.
We converted this to a 507 on the updated scale which is in the 74th percentile of the updated MCAT. We also converted User #3614’s section scores as follows:
User #3614 scored a 9 on the Biological Science section of the old MCAT which is approximately equal to a 125 on the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems.
User #3614 scored a 11 on the Physical Science section of the old MCAT which is approximately equal to a 128 on the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems.
User #3614 scored a 9 on the Verbal Reasoning section of the old MCAT which is approximately equal to a 126 on the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills.
