Summary of Application Experience
I applied early (end of July) even though I had low MCAT scores. I could not re-take the MCATs because I was away in London on a study abroad on the History and Ethics of Health Care, and a comparison of the UK and US's health systems. I also participated on another study abroad, which I felt helped me stand out from the other applicants. I was asked about my MCAT scores at each school. I also am in Lyman Briggs School at MSU which further made me stand out. I received six interviews, three of which I attended, and was accepted at all three. I stand as a testimony to others that you can indeed get into a medical school with low MCAT scores (although my score was only one point below average, and no one asked me about my writing score). My GPA is a 3.45, both science and cumulative. I majored in Lyman Briggs Chemistry.
