Summary of Application Experience
Applying to medical school is a rough process. Especially if you have a 27-30 MCAT like myself. I took the August MCAT and was very displeased with my score (below my practice test scores). With my stats I was an underdog at every school I applied to. I wouldn't have applied to the same caliber of schools if I had seen my MCAT scores before I submitted my AMCAS. However, I do believe I would have received more interviews at schools with lower avg MCATs and GPAs had I taken the April MCAT and submitted my AMCAS June 1. By the time I went to my last interview in Feburary (UWash) I thought I'd be reapplying this year. However, I had an excellent interview and found out I was accepted the next Monday. Washington had been my first choice from day one but since the interview was in February I got dragged through the entire process. I withdrew my applications once I was accepted to Washington. I hope this gives hope to those with sub 30 MCATs. If you have a strong overall application and apply early you have an excellent chance of being accepted. You may not be going to Hopkins but at least you'll be an MD! Good Luck
