1. Not a very good sGPA, but with a strong upward trend in science courses. Faced some hardship that led to bad grades one year in college, but was able to overcome them.
2. Lots of experience in the field as a volunteer EMT, Spanish medial translator, triage assistant, shadowing, and health-related education. Most of my experiences have been working with underserved patients and providers, particularly Hispanic patients.
3. Research experience, both wet-bench and public health-related. A couple publications, one as first author in public health and two independent research projects in community / rural health.
4. Work experience at a health care clinic for multiple years during school and also in a couple health-related non-profits, working as an assistant and/or program evaluation analyst.
5. Graduated in spring 2015 and have been working in the health education field since then, working directly with patients and physicians daily. Also, currently volunteering in triage / Spanish translation at a local clinic for the underserved.
