Summary of Application Experience
3/11/2016 - My cycle is officially over so I will update with more information soon once I have some free time between juggling work and filling out financial aid applications. Overall, it's been a very surprising (in a good way) cycle. After sophomore year destroyed my GPA, I never expected I would have so many interview invitations and acceptances. It does appear as if the admissions staff looks at the whole application and how you fit within their mission.
Summary of Experience:
At first I thought I would love the school but during my interview day I realize there was some aspects that I did not like. After silence and a couple of acceptances from other schools, I withdrew.
Summary of Experience:
I was honored to even receive an interview invitation. Very beautiful campus and the students overall seem very happy. I was honestly not too surprised at the waitlist considering my stats and ECs. However, I was happy just to get a chance to visit the school.
Summary of Experience:
II email requires responding within 24 hours. I really did like Hopkins. They have a great public health school and contact with disadvantaged populations. Unfortunately it was my first interview so I was really nervous. My nervousness was very obvious and I think that led to me being waitlisted.
Summary of Experience:
Had a great interview day! Definitely one of my favorite interviewers. I love NYC and while housing is not the best I don't think it's bad either. I actually like that it's in Washington Heights since it means there's a lot of opportunity to work with disadvantaged populations.
Summary of Experience:
Put on hold in December then accepted in February with full-tuition merit scholarship after an update letter. Very beautiful campus and is extremely big on community service.
Summary of Experience:
Really loved my visit. I love the Yale System and it feels really collaborative and anti-competitive. I also like the hospital and how it sees both referral cases and disadvantaged patients.
Summary of Experience:
I was shocked and honored to receive an interview invitation and even more surprised to be accepted. Interview day had few scheduled activities and a lot of free time. I will definitely be going to second look to get a better sense of the medical school.
Summary of Experience:
Extremely quick at sending interview invites. Received half-tuition merit scholarship. I do like the curriculum but am a bit unsure how I feel about living in Durham. Hospital is very nice.
Summary of Experience:
First MMI experience. I realized I actually prefer MMI. Bellevue seems like a great hospital. However, if I end up in NYC I know I would rather choose Columbia so I withdrew.
Summary of Experience:
First acceptance of the cycle. Really surprised since I had a bad interview experience (more so on my interviewer's part and her assumptions about the population I worked with). However, I really loved Dr. Mehta. My host and the other students were really friendly as well. Withdrew since I was accepted into other schools that fit my desires better.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted 2 weeks after my interview. I really liked the people I interview with and my faculty interviewers. However, I withdrew after my Pritzker acceptance since they serve more disadvantaged populations than Northwestern.
