Brief Profile:
Overview: Creating an MD apps profile to serve reapplicant hopefuls, and borderline hopefuls in their professional journeys. Applied for the first time in the 2013-2014 cycle, and didn't receive a single interview. Retook the MCAT (+2), and currently work full-time in translational research, and volunteer for a women's health org. Also, i increased my shadowing hours with physicians/med students stateside and abroad. Two years makes a big difference, and am both savoring and enjoying my time outside of the school system.
Academics: Declining GPA--those upper div sciences are no joke. Probably the biggest red flag in my application. Don't have time/money for a post-bac. so hoping ad coms look past it with my MCAT. Minored in international development. Took Spanish classes for a year. Took 20 units my last 3 semesters basically of college. (Cal has such interesting classes. Go Bears!)
Resume: 1 year+ clinical research international medical volunteering/shadowing health worker for a semester 2 years volunteering in pediatric research counselor at a science camp coordinator/manager for student housing Outreach volunteer for women's health organization
Extracurriculars: I play soccer more days of the week than not. Both in college, and after.

Summary of Application Experience
9/10/15: So far, just silence. Rejected from UHSU, and VCU (which was unexpected). Hold for re-review at GW (rejected most likely). Small pooled at Vermont. Will post when/if the II come.
10/2/15: I GOT MY FIRST II AHHHHHH! As a reapplicant, this means the world to me. NEVER GIVE UP! The interviews come when you least expect it. I highly suggest spending less time on SDN, and learning a new skill, doing something you love--for fun, for a cause you're passionate about, etc. On hold from EVMS. Rejected from Rosalind Franklin (also wtf?)
10/28/15: Hold from Penn State. Silence abounds
11/7/15: rejected from Case Western, GW
12/8/15: Got two II--one to Netter and one to a DO school in Pomona. So excited! Been awhile since a chance to interview, and many rejections in the meantime. Both interviews are scheduled for January.
1/29/16: ACCEPTED TO NETTER! Going to be a doctor!!! Matriculating!

Summary of Experience:
Albany Med:
Had a great tour with a 4th yr student--seems like a great school, lots of clinical opportunities, supportive faculty, and a modified pass/fail grading system.
Got to spend a lot of time walking/running around and checking out the city. There are a lot of cute coffee shops to study in, if that's your jam. I love caffeine-fueled mornings poring over textbooks.
The MMI itself was a little stressful. Definitely depended on the question/interviewer. Mainly spoke about my personal experiences and how they related to the question. Will find out in a month--fingers crossed! Would love to attend!
