Summary of Experience:
This was the only school I applied to late in the cycle. I was definitely the ideal candidate (from area, went to a comparable undergrad), as evidenced by the fact that I got a secondary like 2 days after I submitted. Unfortunately, it was just too late and there weren't enough interview spots left... at least that's what I'm telling myself
Summary of Experience:
Scheduled interview for late October to see if I still wanted to go. Withdrew after UVA acceptance/because I was on my way back from Einstein after two months of interviews and I couldn't justify the $ and exhaustion. Its also a really expensive school :///
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew interview to open up spot for someone else. Its an expensive school and I couldn't justify it over UVA. Still a great school in a great city. Go Cards!
They also sent me the invite to my school email that I NEVER gave them, which I thought was weird until other schools started sending stuff there too... did they look me up or something?
Summary of Experience:
Deferred but I LOVED this school. The liberal arts vibe sold me and my hosts were awesome. I stayed for 2 days just due to interview timing and I got to see a student event and meet up with an old friend, so I might be a little biased towards here. Everyone was super talented, and not just in science/medicine. Hoping for some early May love since I've been sending them updates. It honestly felt like the undergrad I wish I had gone to.
Also the only school in NYC that didn't ask me if someone with my geographic background could "handle" New York, so that was a plus.
Summary of Experience:
First interview and MMI... back combo. Thought I killed the MMI but blew the open portion since I had NO IDEA how it was supposed to go (first interview D:).
School was gorgeous and new, but felt less personal that Sinai (interviewed same week to save $, no ITH email involved). TBH, Mount Sinai seemed to slightly edge it out, but I also spent two days there so it wasn't really fair. The attached hospital system is INSANE though and would love to return here for residency if it doesn't pan out for med school.
Summary of Experience:
Absolute dream school. Have always wanted to go here. #1 going in.
Facilities were incredible and I'm a big library guy, so their 7 floor, sunlit sanctuary of books had me weak in the knees. Perfect school for an ambitious bench-jockey like me. I also have a long family history of attending med school here so I'd like to continue the line. Definitely a reach this application cycle.
Gonna sit on this wait-list and keep sending letters until the bitter end. If you really want something, you do everything within your power to get it (without being needy/creepy). That's what I'm gonna do here.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted off the HPWL with service and research $!! They have some awesome programs here so I'm really excited!
First interview invite (in August :D)! Didn't know when people normally interviewed so scheduled at the end of October (face palm). Later learned that interviewing earlier is better. Hopefully this didn't color their opinion of me.
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew after UVA; Asked them for some financial help to make DC viable, but I got shot down so I withdrew.
Sent a letter of interest since I know they reject a lot of qualified applicants. They were very self-deprecating which didn't exactly sell the school. I love DC though and the policy options were really cool
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew after AECOM offer. Asked if they'd match Einstein's $, but they couldn't :( still a great school though and I would have been happy to end up here
Student body here was the most relaxed of any I'd seen. The facilities were also incredibly nice, maybe even nicer than NYU's. This was the least stressful, most fun med school I visited and they still seem to kill it on boards/residency. Biggest downside is that its in a college town and I don't know if I want to go to another public school where I'm OOS.
Fall acceptance!!! Pressure is off and at a great school no less. Would be pretty happy to end up here.
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew before deadline 'cause UVA
Actually loved this school. The students were cool, the buildings were gorgeous and gothic, there was a sweet/stately student lounge, all the learning areas would be brand new (minus the anatomy labs, which had windows!). Midwestern people are the best and I would've been really happy to go here were it not for the ENORMOUS price of being an OOS student. Great Urban health options too!
