B.S. in Biomedical Engineering graduated summa cum laude (standard 4 years of college)
Withdrew from Organic Chemistry 2 junior year and retook it after graduation
Finished up my science prerequisites at William Paterson University (took 4 science classes) after graduation when I decided to pursue medicine again.
Had a two year gap between graduation and applying to medical school. Spent those two years taking science classes, volunteering, working part-time, shadowing doctors, and studying for MCATs.
ACTIVITIES/WORK:
100+ physician shadowing with plastic surgeon and cardiologist at their clinics 100+ physician shadowing with vascular surgeon at a hospital 100+ volunteering at a hospital
Research in breast cancer risk among ethnic groups at hospital for 1.5 years. Abstract published.
Undergraduate honors research in microfabricated lab-on-a-chip devices for 2 years. Research grant awarded. Poster presented at symposium.
Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society. Part of the executive board. Alpha Eta Mu Beta BME Honors Society Member. Society representative for engineering student council.
Went on 3 non-medical missions to Turkey, Haiti, and Belize.
Taught a free SAT course for low income families for three summers Private tutor for 5 years. Swim instructor and coach for 2 years. ASCA Certified Coach, lifeguard, CPR, first aid certification.
