Summary of Application Experience
3.4X for both GPAs (on the lower end of the .4X aka cant round up), MCAT is a 514, (91 percentile) which is between 33-34 on old scale.
Lots of research (research hours in the thousands, lots of posters and a thesis written, publication coming soon) and teaching assistant experience. Was on the fence about MD-PhD, but ultimately decided pursing an MD degree would keep doors open (research), while allowing me to participate in my favorite type of studies as a future physician (application to humans) .
~150 hours of clinical experience (volunteering and shadowing) -- weak I know. Some non clinical volunteering here and there.
FAP recipient and born and raised in a MUA (medically underserved area) in a MUP (medically underserved population).
Aiming to stay in NYC!
PM me on SDN for advice about PS writing or getting dank research experience (or etc etc)!

I have finally come to the firm conclusion that I definitely refuse to attend a school outside of NY (unless absolutely necessary -- and I doubt that will be the case). So I have been scheduling my Philly interviews for early December in hope that a NYC school will accept me before then and I can cancel my philly interviews. Unfortunately Temple refuses to schedule an interview after Thanksgiving, so I withdrew.

I had a great time at my interview, thought it went really well. I can definitely see myself attending Einstein, although of all the NYC schools it is not my top choice. The students were chill but I didn't feel like I vibed 100% with them in the way I did with students elsewhere.
02-06-17: rejected LOL it didn't hurt but still I'm kind of surprised. Oh well. I thought my interview went just fine. Nothing amazing but also nothing terrible. If I may make any speculations perhaps they are yield protecting? I'm not sure, that seems weird. Perhaps I didn't beg borrow and steal enough? Lol they seem to like desperate applicants and they crazy over-interview. Also just looking @ Einstein's thread on SDN post-rejection and how they are treating people makes them seem shitty. Glad I don't have to deal with that unorganized bullshit.

I was pleasantly surprised that Sinai invited me to interview with them. I've always had a pretty big crush on this school and the interview only further cemented my love for them. The students/faculty/interviewers were super friendly and seemed like the type of people I would hang out with no matter the circumstances. Could 100% see myself attending the school!
11/18 Update - First batch of decisions went out and I got a deferral quasi-waitlist letter that they will return to my application on a later date. Womp womp, that kind of sucks and actually made me fall out of "love" with Sinai.
03/09 update - Waitlisted/Alternative list and I don't really care lol

The first to invite me to an interview and rather quickly at that (~1 week). I think my interview went well (MMI format) and I could 100% see myself attending and in fact it is my first choice of all the NYC schools. Hoping to get some love from them in January.
01/27 update - waitlisted! The horror. Actually I don't really feel any type of way because they've been jerking my feelings around all week by calling those accepted and my anxiety and hope had both run dry the night before. I guess it would be nice to get off the WL, but ultimately I think I had better interviews elsewhere, and hopefully my acceptances in the next month will reflect that (but not counting on it because others are mostly higher tier).

Oh lawd, was not AT ALL expecting an interview invite from
Columbia. I applied knowing I would be rejected outright but this is a very pleasant surprise. They have a low post-II acceptance rate so not expecting much but still!
I was even more pleasantly surprised that I really liked Columbia. Everybody was so friendly and positive and the interview was so casual and conversational. I walked away really liking the school, its going to hurt if they reject me, which is not something I think I would say before interviewing.
02/14 update: wowowow accepted. Insanity! I am so grateful. Definitely excited to attend this school. Spent all day thinking I was waitlisted. So to get a call saying otherwise was spectacular.
Unexpected LARGE scholarship! AMAZING

Post Interview: Loved the school and my interview went really well! Students seemed very friendly and happy and I am just generally amazed by the institution. Definitely in my top 3.
03/09 update - Aye got accepted. What a turn around this cycle has been. Happy to have the hard choice of choosing between here and Columbia.

My good ol state school. I had a really awesome interview. Extremely warm, friendly and he spent a lot of time complimenting my app. Probably one of the best interviews of my life. I could see myself going here but it is far from my top choice in terms of NYC schools.
First acceptance and it feels good! Excited for the rest of the application season, because although I would 100% go to Downstate if it came down to it, it is not my first choice of all the places I interviewed at so far.
2/2017 update - Fin aid package came, 70k all loans...Um how are you blowing up my phone trying to recruit me but dont entice me with money?
3/09 - withdrew for better NYC schools.
Ended up being the most expensive NYC school
