Applying to med school is fun - and very expensive. I'm a working parent so that added some interesting elements to the application roller coaster. I am unbelievably excited by how well my cycle has gone/is going and I can't wait to become a doc.
Stay tuned while I figure out where my family and I will be moving this summer!
Updated to add: We're moving to Rochester! I've decided to matriculate at Mayo. It was a very difficult decision, but ultimately Mayo felt like the perfect fit. I'm honored to have the opportunity to learn at a clinic where the needs of the patient come first.

Summary of Experience:
Withdrew after Mayo. The price isn't right. This was scheduled to be my final interview. I wanted to check out the school, but didn't want to take the slot of someone who might actually attend.
Summary of Experience:
This school is beautiful. There was an indoor farmer's market, everyone was friendly, and Burlington seems like a sweet place to live. I also loved that my interviewer was a poet (and a doc). I withdrew after Mayo - it wouldn't make sense to pay the OOS tuition.
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew after Mayo acceptance. I loved Boston University - it felt like social justice med school. I almost canceled my interview after my Mayo acceptance but I am so glad I went and heard Dean Witzburg speak about the history and focus of the school. Ultimately, I decided that I would love to work at a place like Boston University, but that it was not the place for the early years of my medical training.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted NP! Beautiful campus and boundless resources - only drawback is Boston rent. (No family housing) I really loved my interviewer and I love the history of medicine in Boston. Lots of dream facilities. A little weirded out by heavy dorm residency - but it makes sense.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted to Yale and Harvard on the same day?! Holy smokes! I love that Yale does the free fifth year and that it has on campus family housing. I'm also a big fan of self-assessment and I love that there is a thesis requirement. I also love all of the museum-y stuff on display, nothing like old medical "research" on hysteria. Their hunger games youtube video is pretty sweet too. I volunteer!
Summary of Experience:
First acceptance! Got the call on 10/15, the morning of my UCSF interview. Mayo was AMAZING. Everything is beautiful, especially the attitude that the patient comes first. Grand pianos in the waiting room? Beautiful art everywhere? Harry Potter-esque reading rooms? Humane schedule with rejuvenating selectives? Check plus all around! Cons: Winter and its cold, dark heart.
Summary of Experience:
Madly in love with the library here. Seems like a great curriculum with plenty of down time for studying and family. 40k in scholarship!
Summary of Experience:
Thrilled to get an acceptance here. I don't know how I missed the whole Stanford-is-incredibly-beautiful thing before I applied. The campus is awesome. Amazing student facilities and students. Bikes all over. Furnished family housing and even a baby at the night before social! I also loved the MMI and you can tell they are big on evidence based everything. Major perks - guaranteed research funding, great opportunities to TA, and most Wednesdays off!
Summary of Experience:
What a dreamy school. This school has everything. Family housing is a ten minute walk from Golden Gate park and the school puts so much heart into everything they do. I loved that the lecture I attended integrated the med side of things with the social side of things so smoothly.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted! I loved my interview day here. Everyone was incredibly kind and I loved that there are lots of writerly things to do at Brown - medical play-writing as an elective? Awesome!
