Brief Profile:
URM, socially and financially disadvantaged (by own definition and by AMCAS). Studied Biology and Sociology in college. Took two years off to work in cardiovascular research. Sweating bullets over this whole process.

Summary of Application Experience
I honestly should have sent in my AMCAS application at least 2-3 weeks earlier. First delay: being very very depressed after my second MCAT. I went down a point after going through hell and high water to take it again. Plus my MCAT score is shitty anyway. Second delay: my undergraduate institution has writing tutor that helps you kick start the thought process for your essays. He and I clashed severely on many points. So a good portion of July was spent going back and forth trying to find a happy medium. Since I had a AAMC fee waiver, I had a bit more flexibility to apply to more schools (something I would need to do based on MCAT/GPA). I also aimed for schools in which I would be happy living in that city, not particularly based on MCAT or GPA alone. That being said, I applied to a LOT of high ranking schools. I am in for a world of pain. I also don't have a back up plan...
Summary of Experience:
Rejection pre-secondary. Very first rejection. Throw-away app in hindsight. I probably should have spent the money on Rosalind Franklin, Emory, Baylor, etc.
Summary of Experience:
Sent update letter 11/22. Probably a silent rejection at this point. They stop interviewing in January.
12/5 - Their webportal says I haven't been chose for an interview which is probably a silent rejection if I've ever seen one. I don't want to wait till March 15th for hammer to drop.
1/29 - They said they've concluded the interview season and to check the web portal. Which is essentially a rejection. But they INSIST on also informing me, a third time, that I have been rejected in mid March. Thanks guys!
Summary of Experience:
This rejection is going to sting. I think that if this cycle doesn't turn out well, I might do their SMP. Or BU's. That's how much I love Boston.
Summary of Experience:
I know have negative chance at Yale, but this is my dream school. This is the school that started it all. I hope they at least personalize my rejection letter. Even if I get rejected, I'm probably going to call and thank everyone for considering me and for getting me through life thus far. I should specify that this is NOT my undergrad.
And rejected. I think everything else is OK after this one. This hurt.
Summary of Experience:
Not exactly sure when I submitted. I don't have a confirmation email from them. Shitty rejection letter. Kinda pissed because I got a LOR from the head of a department it the university hospital. I thought that would at least merit a closer look.
Summary of Experience:
This was a really long application. Also, first gut-punch. I fetishize U Chicago to an unhealthy degree. Plus they have a really good underserved program. Then again, it's U Chicago for crying out loud.
Summary of Experience:
Rejected right as I decided to make an MDApps account. Irony? I'm not too pissed because of 1) the debt load and 2) what's up with this no abortion teaching thing?
Summary of Experience:
I was initially "spring deferred" which is essentially a rejection. But then I was brought back from the brink of death for an interview. But I'm super content with my other schools so I didn't bother going to the interview.
Summary of Experience:
I did the happiest dance ever. My guru/mentor did a happy dance too.
...And then I got waitlisted. Ugh. Sent update letter too late. In the process of sending extra LOR. Might send a straight up Letter of Interest closer to May 15th.
Apparently they're overenrolled this year. Wouldn't go to over current acceptances, but I did very much like the school.
Summary of Experience:
It only took them 7 months to give me an interview invite. I'll see what it's about, but I don't feel any pressure. Plus I want the day off from work =P
Waitlisted but withdrew. The school had a weird, not entirely positive vibe despite being located on Sunshine Cottage Road. The MMI went A LOT better than UCLA's but this wasn't a place I would be thrilled to attend.
Summary of Experience:
No secondary to speak of really. First interview invite! I nearly flew out of my chair. Unexpected totally.
First acceptance: Actually flew out of my chair. So glad I had the day off. I would have pulled an Office Space in the lab. Very impressed with the clarity of the school's message, facilities, intimacy. Completely unimpressed with the city of Rochester. It is what it is, though.
Summary of Experience:
First interview! Second invite. Was very happy to interview and had sugarplum fairy dreams about medical school, but I wasn't impressed with the physical location and the facilities of the medical school. This, in turn, made the acceptance very 'meh' for me, especially considering I was on the way to JFK for another interview.
Summary of Experience:
I don't know when exactly I sent in my secondary. Probably around the large push I made in early October. I was screened in for a secondary which was absurd to say the least. And then I was invited for an interview which is borderline insanity. I really like this school.
My interview went so poorly, but I guess it didn't matter because I was accepted 5 months later! I didn't get wait-listed... I just hadn't heard from them in 5 months and figured it was a wrap around May 15th. I don't know if I'm going to go. Prestige is awesome, but tons of debt is not.
