Brief Profile:
Double major in humanities and science. I was listed as "socioeconomically disadvantaged" but did not identify as "disadvantaged" on my app. Very active in extra curricular activities.
I did not take the writing section of the MCAT. My composite score is a 30, with mostly even distribution (no section below an 8, no section above an 11). My GPA is 3.8+ (both composite and science).
My MCAT is a bit lower than I would have liked, so I am hoping that my GPA and research experience make up for it. I have 5 LORs and I expect that all of them are pretty strong. I had good relationships with my professors.
3 from research advisors (1 will be especially strong since I worked with them for over a year) 1 from humanities professor who I knew throughout my undergrad education 1 from my undergrad pre-med committee
Extra curriculars: Local Hospital volunteer experience Rural clinic volunteer experience Community service Research (genomics, animal model and clinical - all separate projects) Honors societies Other random activities as well like playing violin, backpacking, archery, traveling

Application Cycle One: 07/02/2013
Undergraduate college: Small liberal arts college
Undergraduate Area of study: Biological/Life Sciences
Summary of Experience:
After I applied, I heard that they only accepted 31+ MCAT scores, so I was expecting to get rejected anyways. Would have been nice to live in New Orleans.
Summary of Experience:
LOR request. Letters received mid-Sept and rejected 2 days before Christmas. I sent an update letter ~2 weeks before being rejected and never got any reply or acknowledgement. I really liked Mayo and was hoping to at least get an interview, but I have other acceptances that I'm happy with.
II late in the season, but still hoping to hear good news. I was very impressed by my interview. It looks like the administration really tailors the curriculum to fit the needs of the students. The students and faculty seemed really friendly and happy.
Rejected post interview. Felt like my interview went well, but it was so late in the season that I am not surprised. I didn't get the feeling that they were as strong in research as Alabama anyways, so I am happy with the choices I have.
Summary of Experience:
Yay! Interview invitation for my state school :) I have heard a lot of great things from some of the students and physicians I know here!
I was really impressed by my interview here. There seems to be lots of opportunities for research, clinical experiences, community service and etc.
Waitlisted :( Bummed, but I am thankful to have acceptances elsewhere. Planning on sending a letter of intent, as I'm a native Marylander, and would like to stay in the area if possible. Moreover, I felt like the school is the best fit for me of all the schools I have interviewed with. Fingers crossed
Summary of Experience:
Interview invite! Really excited because they have a lot of great programs for research and rural medicine :) Was definitely not expecting this as an out of state applicant!
I really liked this school. The students seem happy, the faculty seem to care about the students and the facilities are nice. I especially liked the children's hospital here. I feel as though I may have come off as stiff and awkward in my interviews, so I am not expecting good news, but I could see myself being happy here.
First Acceptance! So excited! I was impressed with the school, the area, the hospitals and everything about UAB. I guess I must not have been as awkward as I thought on my interview day :)
Summary of Experience:
The students here were laid back and the faculty seemed really interested in student feedback. There are lots of student activities and opportunities for students to do whatever they want over the summer. Toledo is a small city, which is nice for me since I'm from a small town/rural area.
Second acceptance :)!
Ultimately withdrew because I would not attend over Alabama. Admissions sent me a very nice email with a survey to fill out about what I thought of the school/why I withdrew. Seems like they are really focused on getting feedback and incorporating it, which is a huge plus in my opinion :)
