Brief Profile:
Never volunteered, never researched, never shadowed. Might have made a difference if I had? Did spend 5 years serving in the military, med side of the house. Made me want to be a doc.

Summary of Application Experience
Got engaged in the middle of the admissions cycle, which kind of changed the game plan for me since my fiance's employment opportunities suddenly became a deciding factor. Fortunately(?) I was rejected from almost all my reach schools, so it wasn't the agonizing decision I thought it would be when we had to pinpoint a geographic region. The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex ended up being a great fit for us, and I couldn't be happier going to UTSW. Best feedback I can give to applicants is to apply to a diverse range of schools. I was ignored by a safety school, courted by a reach school, and both aced and bombed interviews at schools where my MCAT was ~median. If I could do it all over again, I probably would have applied to a few more realistic schools and left HMS and UPenn off the list. Best of luck to all those reading this!
