Brief Profile:
I was a 4 year varsity athlete, and I didn't have too much time for extra stuff. I shadowed some, and volunteered a bit. I also had a poster/abstract published. After not getting in the first time, I've had a year to goof off. After retaking the MCAT (and improving 7 points), I've been shadowing a couple of different physicians, as well as doing some clinical based research with obesity and exercise prescription. I also volunteer in a free medical clinic pharmacy. Hopefully the process will go a little better this time.

Summary of Application Experience
My advice on the whole process is to apply as EARLY as possible and to take the April MCAT. I was unable to take the April MCAT both years because of track season, and I think that was a major hold-up. For those re-applicants, keep your head up. Ask why you were rejected the first time and work hard to improve on your weaknesses. It worked for me...I am very thankful/blessed to be heading to my top choice!
GO TARHEELS!!!!!!!!
--7/11/05 My my! I got a call last Friday from UNC offering me a spot! Its a dream come true to go to my top choice...!
--5/25/05 Got a call from Wake this morning...I'm ACCEPTED! Wake had the best technological facilities of any school where I interviewed. A little more expensive...but hey, its worth it!
--4/19/05 Not much to report. Got waitlisted at SC and decided to withdraw my application.
--3/21/05 I got my first acceptance! Letter from ECU on 3/19. I'm very thankful to be accepted to a nice school. It takes some of the pressure off, and now I can hope to hear some good news from other places as well!
--1/27/05 Interviewed at UVA this week and loved it. Its expensive for out of state, but close to Wake's cost.
As mentioned above, I am a reapplicant. I think that the low MCAT and lack of experience the first time around kept me out. I am very pleased with my new MCAT, and the experience I'm getting this year.
