AMCAS verification complete: late August (wish I had applied earlier, but a very demanding, very long hours summer internship prevented earlier submission.) Committee Interview: Sept 4 ~ Committee Interview went very well. Committee said my app & LORs are strong. Committee Letter sent to AMCAS: about 3rd week in Sept.
Took the MCAT at the end of April 2012. No prep class, no studying for it. Did take one practice test at 10 pm the night before. My MCAT date was the weekend before final exams, so the weeks before were spent finishing engineering projects that were due that Friday (the day before the MCAT exam). I really wanted to take it at another time, but there were several conflicts that wouldn't allow a different testing date.
ECs were ok, nothing spectacular University-paid tutor for Bio, Chem, Calculus, & Spanish (2009 - present) REU's two summers Bio-med E Shadowed a Gerontologist, General surgeon, Orthopedic surgeon, and FP. Two South American trips with physicians to help provide healthcare at a free clinic. Shadowed a Spanish translator at local hospital. Although I'm fluent in Spanish, this helped with my Medical Spanish. The translator was a doctor from another country who is awaiting US licensing. TA for Chemical Engineering Separation Processes course.
