Summary of Application Experience
Wrote my personal statement the winter before application summer, pre-wrote secondaries with 2011 essays, spent the entire summer rewriting and editing with help from professional editors and friends, ultimately secondary turnaround time is less than 2 weeks for most schools.
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew because my interest in this school was not strong, and also I had many other interviews that I prioritized over this one, so I ended up not even scheduling an interview with them.
Summary of Experience:
Did not attend the interview because frankly, I was just too tired and from my initial few. I needed a rest, and Chicago was just too far.
Summary of Experience:
The students here were the most relaxed and fun students I met on my interview trail. It was the first time that a student host took me to dinner with her friends, and they just sat there and talked for a looong time. They seemed to be very stress-free and truly enjoyed hanging with each other. Plus their common lounge has a Steinway piano.
Summary of Experience:
It was my first time to Philly. I drove to Philly, and my first impression was that Philly was a city basically in the middle of nowhere. As for the school, it was older than I would've liked and also I can't get over the weather. Even the students complained that it gets super gloomy and dreary most months out of the year. I loved my faculty interviewer though; he totally sold me on Pitt and I totally want to work for him if I go to Pitt.
Summary of Experience:
This experience made me wonder if perhaps going to school in NY is not the best idea for me. The dorms are very small, but very cheap for NY housing. NY Presbyterian is a gorgeous hospital!
Summary of Experience:
It was my first trip to Boston, and I absolutely fell in love with the city. I stayed overnight with a friend, which significantly improved my interview experience. The interview day is quite empty, but there is a museum in their library that you can explore. Interview schedules vary significantly from person to person, and some interviews are across town (but taxi vouchers are supplied). I also went on an unseasonably warm day, which may have a lot to do with my positive impression of Boston/Harvard.
Summary of Experience:
My flight to Cleveland got cancelled the night before I was supposed to fly out, due to Hurricane Sandy, so I drove the 6+ hours to Cleveland in the middle of the hurricane, nbd. The school itself is great; it's humongous and has a very museum-y feel. It was raining and gross the day I went, so I did not get a good impression of the city of Cleveland. I am supremely impressed with CCLCM's match list though.
Summary of Experience:
I love Johns Hopkins. LOVED IT. Absolutely incredible school. I loved the facilities, the students, and what the students had to say about the school/faculty. They recently opened up a new peds center, and I had no thoughts of going into peds, but if I have the honor of attending JHUSOM, I might just have to switch to peds because that building is just beautiful. Beautiful campus, beautiful school.
Summary of Experience:
My very first interview! Definitely a great first interview experience, as my interviews were both very typical, standard interviews based on my application. The school is beautiful; their newly renovated/built medical school is so pretty and I love their new facilities. However, I'm not so sure about Charlottesville.
Summary of Experience:
There was a lot of walking up and down stairs during the tour part of the interview day, so the actual hospital/facilities did not leave an impression on me. Dr. Sullivan is an incredible speaker, and actually moved me to tears by the end. She speaks so passionately about medicine, and reinvigorated my passion.
Summary of Experience:
UMSOM is my state school, so I didn't really think much of it before actually visiting. I actually was very impressed with their facilities. However, I did have my hardest interview at UMSOM =( First time I ever hesitated in an interview, and just did not know what to say.
Summary of Experience:
I interviewed here the day after another school, so by the end of the interview day here I was exhausted! I didn't really like how the medical school and the hospital were the same building, so you would basically be in the same place all the time. But their dorms are amazing!
