Summary of Experience:
No email confirmation or secondary. Huge campus and very laid back community. Interviews were very straightforward and relaxed. Semi blind interviews (no MCAT or GPA included). I liked the half day schedules which would give the students more free time to study or do other things. The integrated curriculum was also appealing. Early clinical training (within the first week!). Small beach town and Houston is just an hour and a half away. Overall great experience.
Summary of Experience:
7/13/2012 email confirmation and no secondary needed :) Open interview type. Nice campus and very friendly student body/faculty. Located in the Texas Medical Center so an abundance of opportunities and resources available. Good clinical training available early on through the Surgical and clinical Skills Center. Traditional curriculum (5 classes per day). Interviews were very relaxed and conversational. Overall great experience.
Summary of Experience:
7/10/2012 email confirmation. No secondary fee :) First time visiting Dallas which was very similar to Houston. The campus is big and very clean. Brand new hospitals are being built which should be completed within three years. Staff and medical students were very welcoming and informative. One interviewer had access to my entire application (open) while the other interviewer had nothing (blind/closed). Very conversational. First year medical students (class of ~230) are broken down into six colleges (groups of ~ 40). Each group is further divided into smaller groups and assigned a mentor to guide them throughout their medical education. I found this feature very neat because it would help the students form a sense of community or bonds with their colleagues. I had a great time interviewing at this institution.
Summary of Experience:
No email confirmation. Forgot to submit secondary and received an "incomplete application" email. The interviewers have everything in your application except MCAT and GPA. The facilities were new and clean. I liked their SimLife center which would help in building up my clinical skills. You can volunteer at a student run clinic within the first year. The first two years of your medical education would be done at Lubbock. The last two years will be completed at one of three locations; Lubbock, Amarillo (Brand new facility) or Permian Basin (Odessa/Midland). A three year family medicine (F-MAT) program is provided for those interested. The institution pays for one year of the program leaving two years to be paid by the student unlike the traditional four years. The curriculum is taught in blocks which is neat because you can focus on one subject at a time versus five or six. The staff and students were very welcoming and heartwarming. I felt right at home. For me Lubbock is not too bad as to what other people have commented. Overall great experience!
Summary of Experience:
No fee for secondary. Interview invite by phone. Semi-blind interviews (MCAT and GPA not included). Nice campus and very friendly student body/faculty. Interviews were very relaxed and non-stressful. Fort Worth is a smaller city but with a big city feel. Overall, good experience. Update: Received my first post interview rejection. I was surprised due to the fact that I managed to do well on the interviews. Oh well on to the next one :/
