Summary of Application Experience
Took a Kaplan class before taking the MCAT, helped definitely. Took the actual MCAT once and was happy with my score.
Graduated in May 2012, finished writing my personal statement post-graduation. My advice would be to start this at least a few months before AMCAS opens, it took me forever.
Decided to ultimately apply to 18 schools, although U of MN - Duluth and the U of Michigan were added as an afterthought, that I somewhat regret. However, it's easy to say that in retrospect but the general advice of casting a broad net of applications seems to be very true.
Hoping for some more interviews in January, although it is getting late for that.
Summary of Experience:
Shouldn\'t have applied - I a not interested in rural nor Native American medicine, so I don\'t fit their profile. Waste of $75.
Summary of Experience:
Trouble with their online application, very difficult to tell if I had submitted it or not (may just be that I struggle.) Finally submitted my secondary early October.
Summary of Experience:
small-pooled early August, wanted ANOTHER essay about why I wanted to go there in late Jan in order to still be considered for an interview. No thank you!
Summary of Experience:
Impressed with the beautiful campus in the N suburbs of Chicago, all medical graduate school, nice faculty and staff. However, their international programs seem like they may not be completely up to par for what I am looking for.
Got wait-listed, then got re-affirmed as wait-listed when they must have done a second review.
Withdrew - know I definitely won't go here over Miami.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted MD/MPH, waitlisted MD and withdrew.
Expensive living (>$1,000 monthly) but great climate, awesome MD/MPH program and all of the students really love it. Also, really awesome 1st and 2nd year MD/MPH students. Keeping my fingers crossed every other Thursday morning from here on out, waiting to hear a final decision! Awesome transparency regarding their application process on interview day, and great advice from the Dean of Admissions.
