Summary of Application Experience
It's been a good application cycle. I got accepted to my top choice, UC Irvine and the PRIME-LC program, and to a couple of other great schools. I don't think the waitlist holds much for me at this point.
My scores and GPA are all quite average. I think my acceptances and interviews have come primarily for three reasons: 1) pretty strong extracurriculars / community service / international experiences 2) I got my application in as early as possible. I don't think there is any way I get some of my interview if I wait a couple more weeks even 3) milking every possible connection with the medical schools. If a friend of a friend of a friend was teaching/in residency/studying at a school, then I would get their contact information and ask for advice. Some of those contacts even sent notices to admissions for me. I don't know if it helped, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.
It's going to be a difficult decision on where to attend because of family and financial concerns. But overall, I am very happy and excited near the end of the application cycle.
