  • Application cycles: 12/05/2012
  • Demographics: Male, 39, East Asian
  • Home state: Missouri
  • Last Active: 10/04/2017
  • Brief Profile: Listed undergrad is an unofficial Post-Bacc (re-enrolled as a Bio major, pre-med advisor guided me along) that started in Summer 2010, completed in May 2012. Started immediately after finishing my BHS in Radiologic Sciences at the same school (Radiologic Technologist program).

-Missouri resident with Washington State ties (grew up in Spokane from 1996-2004)
-The BHS included 2000+ hours of hands-on clinical instruction with patients and physicians alike (usually radiologists).
-70 shadowing hours (family practice, cardiology/internal med/primary care combinations), including an additional 15 @ Srimahapoht Hospital, a rural hospital in Thailand
-Very little research, but completed article dissection to compare language mapping methods @ Aarhus University, Denmark
-While living in Denmark, worked at a shrimp factory in Tilst alongside Polish migrant workers and Danish management through three language barriers.
-~200 volunteer hours with a physician group doing mostly non-medical work... patient chart filing, medical equipment transport, preparation of new clinics, IT work.

A smattering of other minor ECs/work experience.

Letters: Two science profs, one DO (KCOM grad... if that matters), one non-sci prof. Non-traditional situation means I don't get a committee interview (only students enrolled in the fall are eligible), thus no committee letter. However, they will compose a letter explaining these circumstances and I'm told that's acceptable. Adding an MD letter for my AMCAS submissions.

As a semi-nontrad applicant, I have the coming academic year "off". No plans to retake my MCAT... I think a 27 is acceptable, especially with the breakdown. Focusing on making sure I write good secondary essays, and enjoying life until I start next summer/fall and give myself to a life of studying.
