Summary of Application Experience
I took the MCAT during the summer before my senior year in 2009. I decided not to apply right out of undergrad and took 2 years off. Spent my time teaching science in a public high school outside Providence, RI.
There were times when I felt like there was no way I was getting in anywhere. I was put on Extended Review at my state school and had no other interview offers. Then out of nowhere and within 2 weeks of each other, I got 2 more interview invites. My last interview was definitely my most solid interview and luckily it was my top choice as well.
I really wanted to apply and get in on the first try for the 2011-2012 application cycle since my MCAT would expire soon. I got into my top choice, Brown. I am 95% sure I will matriculate there. If I get off the IS waitlist at UW, I could potentially change my mind because of the in-state tuition. It also depends on how much financial aid I can get from Brown. We will see.
Summary of Experience:
I love Burlington and would love the chance to interview here. Have been small-pooled for a LONG time. Sent in two interest letters: 1/16 and 2/6. No luck.
Summary of Experience:
Added this school late when I only had one interview offer. Surprised at the quick turnaround for the interview invite.
Really loved the school and the current students seemed really happy with their education.
My interviewer commented on my lack of shadowing experience. When I returned home, I quickly lined up some shadowing and sent in an interest letter a few weeks later. I think it was too little, too late.
Summary of Experience:
I interviewed on the second to last interview date and was accepted!
I currently live and work in Providence and have been shadowing 3 doctors in the area. I think this really helped my application to this specific school.
I sent an interest letter shortly after interviewing.
